A house concert can be a wonderful way to gather friends and family together and listen to live music without dependence on corporate music venues or clubs. There is no real definition of what a house party is, other than a concert or performance held in someone's house or back yard. Some general guidelines for house concerts include, but don't require, that donations go directly to the musicians, there is a more unobtrusive sound system, and usually performers get meal and lodging as part of their compensation. House concerts are becoming increasingly popular in the U.S. and Canada, as they represent not only a great time for the small audiences, but a good way for a band or musician to advertise on a personal level, as well as sell CD's and other merchandise.
