Hadden's Main guitar "The Battleaxe" is a well-worn 1957 Fender Stratocaster . The body is dated 7/57, the neck date is 8/57.
The pickups are original "black-bobbin" fender strat pickups out of a trashed 1960 strat. They were acquired from Texas vintage guitar purveyor Mike Fuller in the early '90s.
The switch is a 5-way, the second tone pot is wired to work on either the middle or the bridge pickup. Other than this mod, all electronics are stock. Anodized pickguard is an early custom shop unit.
The logo is a bit trashed but is original to the guitar.
The nut was installed by Houston Guitar Player/repairman Buck Becker. His work is more like art. Strings are GHS Boomer custom guage: 52, 38, 28, 18, 15, 11.
The Battleaxe is the only guitar on "Swingin' from the Fabulous Satellite".
The Battleaxe was used on "Big Shot" from Hadden Sayers Band, It was used on "Paper Moon" from RetroFutura. It is the main guitar on "Emotional" from SuperSonic. It is also the main guitar on "Extraordinary Girl" from "12 Bars and the Naked Truth"
Other than the wood and the finish, neck plate and the decal, The jack cup is the only thing original to the guitar. All other parts were corroded beyond any level of usability.
The neckplate is dangerously close to rusting through. The guitar supposedly spent its early life in California literally on the beach in the sand.
The body date is located under the tremolo springs. The block is a later piece...as are the graph-tec saddles.
